TikTok Recovers Quickly After Brief Outage Last Night
TikTok is back online after experiencing a brief outage that disrupted the platform last night. The issues began just after 11 PM ET, with many users reporting difficulties accessing certain features. While the app wasn’t completely offline, users encountered problems viewing video comments and navigating through the platform.
Reports from Reddit, Twitter, Bluesky, and our own devices indicated that some videos still loaded in TikTok’s mobile app, but other features like commenting and account switching were unreliable. This led some users to worry that their accounts might have been banned. Attempts to access TikTok’s website or support pages resulted in error messages, often displaying “An error occurred while processing your request” along with a reference code.
TikTok has not officially acknowledged the outage or provided details about the cause. Service status pages for providers like Akamai and Oracle showed no widespread issues at the time. According to Downdetector, there were approximately 44,000 reports of problems before the platform’s service was fully restored around midnight ET.
As of now, TikTok’s services are back to normal, and users can once again enjoy browsing and creating content without interruption. Stay tuned for updates on what caused the outage and how TikTok plans to prevent similar issues in the future.
