Discover Anthropic’s New Voice Mode for Claude Chatbot: Seamless Hands-Free AI Conversations

Share

Anthropic has introduced an exciting new feature for its Claude chatbot apps: voice mode. Currently in beta, this feature allows users to have fully spoken conversations with Claude on their mobile devices. Over the next few weeks, voice mode will be available in English, bringing a more natural and hands-free way to interact with the AI.

Some users have already gained early access, with reports emerging of voice mode being available late Tuesday. By default, this feature runs on Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4 model, offering seamless voice interactions. According to official support pages, voice mode enables you to speak directly to Claude and listen to its spoken responses, making it especially handy when your hands are busy but your mind is engaged. The system also displays key points on-screen as Claude speaks, enhancing the conversational experience.

To try out voice mode, simply start a voice conversation within the mobile app. You can ask Claude to summarize your calendar, search your documents, or discuss images — all through natural speech. Plus, users can choose from five different voice options and switch effortlessly between text and voice interactions. After each chat, a transcript and summary are provided for easy reference.

While voice conversations are a fantastic addition, they do have some limitations. Usage caps apply; most free users can expect around 20-30 voice interactions. Paid Claude subscribers gain extra benefits, such as a Google Workspace connector that allows voice mode to access Google Calendar and Gmail. However, Google Docs integration remains exclusive to Claude Enterprise plans.

Anthropic’s Chief Product Officer, Mike Krieger, confirmed in an interview that the company has been working on voice capabilities for Claude. There have been talks with major partners like Amazon and ElevenLabs, known for their voice-focused AI technologies, to enhance future voice features. While details on these collaborations remain under wraps, it’s clear that Anthropic is committed to making voice interaction a core part of Claude’s evolution.

As AI voice features continue to grow in popularity across the industry, Anthropic’s latest update promises to make conversations with AI more natural, intuitive, and accessible for users worldwide.
